PROGRAM BREAKDOWN
WHAT?
26-month trade school for young men and women called to Pastoral & Missional ministry as a career. The Oregon Youth Alive Ministry Academy will train, equip, and develop you into the follower of Christ and disciple maker that Jesus has Called you to be. OYAMA will prepare and launch you into the ministry Call and position of your dreams!
WHY?
Our “why” is twofold 1) We desire is to see every Oregon church with a high-quality leader and 2) deploying young people to fulfill the Call of God on their life. We exist to encourage, empower, elevate, and equip you to graduate with the faith, knowledge, experience, and tools to be the best Pastor and/or Missionary you can be!
HOW?
- Education -
Our students take classes through Northwest University in an online/onsite hybrid format. Students learn all about Biblical, theological, and leadership studies. This results in completion of a Certificate of Ministry Leadership and the classes necessary to be Licensed with the Assemblies of God.
- Ministry -
Throughout your time, students will have hours upon hours of on-the-job, practical training. Students will serve at various sized and styles of churches, visit and observe dozens and dozens of different ministry contexts, and serve as an intern pastor for an entire year. Students also serve at various ministry events for the Oregon Ministry Network as well. Our students create a plan for how the Lord is uniquely calling them to be used for ministry. This culminates in our Ministry Fair where multiple Lead Pastors interview them to accept a Pastoral job in a church upon graduating.
- Life Skills -
Gaining and developing life skills such as budget and personal finance, calendaring and time management, and administrative practices are key components to the program. Learning to balance all of life’s demands such as a secular job, school, program meetings, family, and friends is crucial to success as an adult and in ministry!
- Coaching -
Students have one-on-one mentoring/discipleship weekly meetings with our coaching staff (All Licensed ministers). These are times of self-discovery, prayer, asking deeper questions, accountability, goal setting and making realistic action plans to achieve those goals. Our hope is that coaching provides the personal growth necessary to be a faithful man/woman of God as well as a healthy minister.
